THE MAIN HALL AND BOARDROOM

My Name is Kani Icho, I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Syria and moved to Chicago when I was 13 years old. About 3 months ago I decided to pack my entire life and move to Lansing, Michigan. I began painting about a year and half ago when I was going through a really challenging time with myself. When I sat in front of a canvas and began to paint, the chaos and the noise that was going on internally would all the sudden quiet. Painting provided me with a space to transmute the challenges I felt internally onto a canvas. It gave me a space to sculpt the energy I was feeling into a piece of art. A space where my emotions were allowed to express themselves freely. I shortly discovered that I have a passion to create art. Through trial and error, self-doubt and courage I have been able to expand my painting skills in every piece I create. I am utterly grateful I reignited my childhood passion to create it has helped me understand myself and the world around me better. We all have an inner child that want to be playful and creative, and it is our responsibility to create the space for our inner child to do so.
