Lansing Shuffle Art Series: The Art of Jennifer Taggart Wilson "Women Empowering Women"

  • Lansing Shuffleboard & Social Club 325 Riverfront Dr Lansing, MI 48912 (map)

Jennifer Taggart Wilson is a mixed media and fiber portrait artist. A lifelong

Michigan resident, she has been interested in the arts her entire life. After recently

retiring from a long career in forensic science, Jennifer is now following her dream

of pursuing a fulltime career in the arts.

Several years ago, Jennifer picked up a paintbrush again after a very long time,

and on a whim painted a portrait of a friend’s cat. Since that day, she has painted

hundreds of pet portraits. After retiring from her forensics career, Jennifer moved

on from pets and began painting people. Combining her love of portraiture and

fiber arts, Jennifer’s current main artistic focus is punch needle portraiture. These

are portraits created on monks cloth with yarn. She enjoys the challenge of

capturing a likeness using a medium that doesn’t allow for the details possible with

more traditional mediums like paint. Jennifer’s art is characterized by her love of

bright colors, and heavily influenced by her great love of David Lynch and Twin

Peaks.

Jennifer also creates hand tufted rugs, including custom pet rugs. Her work can be

found on Instagram @jen_tag and on her website www.studiojennywren.com.
